TGO DX adds two electric buses to its fleet
- TGO DX renews conventional buses for electric buses on the M3 line, which links the Olesa FGC station with the municipality of Esparreguera.
- These buses are the first electric buses that Territori is launching to connect railway stations with different municipalities.
- The presentation ceremony for the new electric buses, held on Friday 16 December, was attended by the Minister of Territory of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Juli Fernàndez, the President of Ferrocarrils, Toni Segarra, the Mayor of Olesa de Montserrat, Miquel Riera, and the Mayor of Esparreguera, Eduard Rivas.
TGO DX has renewed the fleet of conventional buses for electric buses on line M3, which links the FGC station of Olesa with Esparreguera. These are the first two electric buses to join the TGO DX lines, which are renewed from the seven interurban lines, promoted by the Government, that connect FGC stations with nearby urban and industrial centres.
This change enables GrupTG DX to initiate the decarbonisation plan to reduce pollution, offer more sustainable mobility and thus achieve the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda.
The presentation of the new electric buses took place on Friday 16 December. The event was attended by the Minister of Territory of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Juli Fernàndez, the President of Ferrocarrils, Toni Segarra, the Mayor of Olesa de Montserrat, Miquel Riera, the Mayor of Esparreguera, Eduard Rivas, the CEO of GrupTG DX, Carme Pros and the Managing Director of DIREXIS, Carles Fábregas.
Previously, the invited authorities made an inaugural trip of the new fleet, taking the bus to the ‘Ateneu’ stop in the municipality of Esparreguera to the FGC station of Olesa de Montserrat, where the event was held.
Electric buses
TGODX’s M3 line has a demand of 44,000 journeys per year between Olesa FGC station and Esparreguera. The two new electric buses are fully accessible, are 12 metres long, have 37 seats and consume 71kWk per 100km. The slow-charging batteries will be fed at night to the TGO DX depots.
Decarbonisation of mobility The replacement of the fleet for electric vehicles on the 7 interurban lines will mean a reduction of 800 tonnes per year of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This is the equivalent of the carbon capture of 183,000 trees in a year, i.e. one and a half parks in Collserola. This plan to decarbonise the buses that run to Ferrocarrils stations forms part of the Government’s Climate Action Commitment and FGC’s 10/30 Strategy, both of which are in line with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.
